About Media Network Center

Media Network Center of Utsunomiya University consists of facilities in two campuses; the Center in the Youtou campus where the Faculty of Engineering is located and the branch Center in the Mine campus where the Faculties of International Studies, Education, Agriculture are located. facade of the AMNC
They are of great services for users in their respective campuses. On the Youtou campus, most of the users are researchers and engineers who heavily rely on the Center for time-consuming calculations in large volume. On the Mine campus, the Branch is of more service to technical education of each faculty in addition to computer literacy which is one of the compulsory subjects. in order to meet different needs on these campuses, we have installed a Local Area Network, which uses Gigabit Ethernet as a backbone network and spreads Ethernet over every floor of the buildings in our University. The two campuses are linked with each by a dedicated high speed digital line.

Starting in April 1999,a new 6Mb/s high speed digital line starts operation. In addition to links to the National Center for Science Information system backbone for academic database access, the University is linked to the Internet via a 6Mb/s high speed digital line allowing easy access to server facilities of WWW. Electronic Mail,News and FTP servers.
a class Many regional academic and research institutions extend their Internet access through our university forming the academic regional network with our university at its core. Our university will play a leading role in the formation of a community network.

Our Media Network Center has been founded as a common facility which is opened to the entire University. The Center is intend to support research and education effectively by operating the information network efficiently. The following are the missions of the Center.

  • To promote efficient utilization of the information processing network system for research
  • To promote efficient utilization of the information processing network system for education
  • To promote efficient utilization of the information processing network system for affiliated libraries
  • To operate and manage the information processing network system
  • To research and develop the information processing network system
  • Other tasks related with the Center
